I tried starting this at the end of May, but never finished catching up with the last six months. Once your baby starts crawling, "free" time pretty much goes out the window, especially if the baby is not the napping or sleeping type (also known as Birchie). I decided in honor of Birch's first birthday, I'd just start with her birthday and do flashbacks as we go along.
We spent Birchie's first birthday at the Fort Worth Zoo, sweating buckets and watching the animals. The chimpanzees were covering their heads with burlap sacks and "fishing" in the "stream." Ron is a shark fanatic so he was excited to see the sharks (just small ones). I was elated to see a label on a tree (Chinese parasol) that I had previously been unable to identify. Did I hear "Plant nerd alert!?" Birchie enjoyed all of it!
Here are some pictures of Birchie doing one of her favorite activities--lifting heavy objects, especially Mama's plants.

i was wondering where you all went. i like the new blogosphere. birchie is freakin' adorable and the boots are pretty sweet, too. 1st Birthday sounds hot, but fun. We are staying busy in the STL with the new house (just moved in and we bought it 3 months ago), and the pregnancy. We are 1/2 way through now, found a doula we love and are reading everything we can get our hands on. Much love from the STL, aMy
The boots are pointy! Birch looks so cute, and I'm glad you guys started a blog. Is it okay if Ron and I talk MMA on this thing. Take care!
Yay! I'm so glad to be able to read about the Michaelbergs now and let Lily look at new pics of Cousin Birchie! Too bad you guys don't have cable because SHARK WEEK has been on the discovery channel. Those boots are incredible... way to go Ron!
